Abstract:

Objective: To verify if exists relation between the time of the auditory loss and auto-perception of the acclimatization, in new users of auditory prosthesis, without the use of the same ones. Method: 46 individuals had participated, of 27 the 78 years, with sensorineural auditory loss of light degree the moderately severe one. The same ones had been divided in three groups, in accordance with the time of the auditory loss: Group 1, of one the five years, was composed for 15 citizens; group 2, of five the ten years, for 16 citizens; e group 3, with more than ten years, composition for 15 citizens. After three months of effective use of the auditory prosthesis, they had been questioned of as if they felt in relation its hearing, at moments that were without the prosthesis: if the hearing was worse, equal or better of what before the adaptation. Results: In group 1, three citizens related that the hearing was worse, four that the hearing was equal and eight that the hearing improved. In the group 2, two citizens related that the hearing was worse, six that the hearing was equal and eight that the hearing improved. No longer group 3, six citizens related that the hearing was worse, six that the hearing was equal and three that the hearing improved. Conclusion: It can be observed that the group with auditory loss has more than ten years was what less related to improvement of the hearing after the use of the auditory prosthesis. These results suggest that, the time of auditory, lesser privation how much bigger the auto-perception of the acclimatization.
