NEGATIVE EXPECTATIONS OF THE CANDIDATE TO THE USE OF AUDITORY PROSTHESIS AND ITS IMPLICATIONS IN THE SUBJECTIVE BENEFIT

Abstract:

INTRODUCTION: The auditory deficiency limits the capacity of if communicating in satisfactory way, affecting the quality of life it individual. The use of sonorous amplification is one of the used resources to minimize the effect. Thus, it is necessary that if it knows some of the yearnings that attack the new user of this resource, therefore can intervene with the adaptation process. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the level of concern and subjective benefit of the auditory users of prosthesis, correlating these variable, verifying how much they are related. METHOD: 28 citizens had been evaluated, above of 60 years, new users of auditory prosthesis. The individuals had been submitted to the application of two questionnaires. The first one investigated the previous concerns to the use of the auditory prosthesis and was applied before the patient having contact with the same ones. The other questionnaire (IOI - HA) measured the level of subjective benefit and was applied 15 days after the adaptation. RESULTS: How much to the questionnaire of concerns, 67.85% of the citizens had presented a punctuation of up to seven points, what it means a low level of concern. How much to the punctuation of the questionnaire of subjective benefit IOI - HA, 57.14% of the citizens they had gotten equal or superior punctuation the 28,5 points, what it demonstrates a positive evaluation of the use of the auditory prosthesis. Correlation was not verified enters the gotten results in the questionnaires. CONCLUSION: A low level of concern and evidenced a positive evaluation of the use of the auditory prosthesis was observed. After analysis of the data, was verified that the concerns had not intervened with the cited subjective benefit for the patient.
