Dear Colleagues,

In this issue of our journal Arquivos Internacionais de Otorrinolaringologia you will notice a larger number of original articles published. We have been receiving even more articles to be evaluated, which comes across our perspective on strongly contributing in the publishing of scientific articles in Brazilian journals, by following the national and international publishing rules. The journal contains the double of articles from now on.

In accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as with the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), we inform authors, through this editorial, about the resolutions by these two institutions. Further information on such resolutions will be available through the publishing rules printed in this journal and also at .

It is advisable that all Clinical Essays should contain an international identification number registered in one of the Clinical Essays Records, and also they should be validated by WHO and ICMJE criteria, whose addresses are available at http://www.icmje.org/. The identification number must be informed at the end of the abstract. The original article that deals with the following topic (Is This Clinical Trial Fully Registered? A Statement from the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) can be accessed at http://www.icmje.org/clin_trialup.htm.

It is important that you register you Clinical Essays, by thus supporting ethics issue, respect to patients, clearance and standardization of this type of publication.

Best regards,

Marcelo Hueb
