SYNDROME OF THE APNEA OF SLEEP (SAOS) IN ONE SHOWS OF THE BOTUCATU POPULATION AND THE ASSOCIATION WITH ARTERIAL OBESITY AND SYSTEMIC HYPERTENSION (HAS)

Abstract:

Introduction: In Brazil incidence of Syndrome of Apnea of sleep (SAOS) in 38% is esteem, above of the one for the 4% literature. Hypertension, co-obesity and obesity are common. Objective: To evaluate the frequency of SAOS in the adult population of Botucatu, the presence of hypertension and obesity as co-obesity. Methods: During the Fair of Health of the FMB - Botucatu the 2011 adult population was invited to answer to the Questionnaire of Berlin. The mostral size was calculated in 385 individuals. The data had been analyzed considering age, sort, "high risk for SAOS", hypertension, obesity and the correlations for SAOS. Results: 468 people had been interviewed. 166 (35.25%) individuals had been identified as of high risk for SAOS, being 32,85 of masculine population and 37.3% of the feminine one. Obesity was observed in 23,3% of the population, more common in women (60.2%), of which 83.5% presented high risk for SAOS. HAS was observed in 27,3%, of these 71.9% presented high risk for SAOS. Hypertension and obesity showed significant correlation with SAOS. No patient was evaluated or directed for specialist. Conclusion: The study showed high frequency of "high risk for SAOS" in the adult population. In contrast of literature, the feminine population presented greater risk, probably for bigger frequency of obesity. The association with obesity and hypertension was common. Although the spreading for the media on Apnea of Sleep, the patients are not investigated, same in medical accompaniment for hypertension. Metabolic and cardiovascular SAOS and the repercussions better need to be divulged the generalist doctors.
