TREATMENT OF THE SUDDEN DEAFNESS: ANALYSIS STATISTICS OF TEN YEARS

Abstract:

OBJECTIVE: Sudden deafness is characterized for auditory loss of sudden, sensorineural, bigger installation that 30dB in at least 3 consecutive frequencies. This work has as objective to compare the evolution of patients dealt with vasodilators or association of corticosteroids and vasodilatators, dealt ambulatorialy with medication saw verbal and interned receiving treatment endovenous and to establish correlation the past time of the beginning of the symptoms and beginning of the treatment centers. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Analysis retrospects of 13.422 submitted patients the electronistagmography between 2001 and 2011. Of these, 81 had presented sudden deafness, being that 16 had been excluded due to data. RESULTS: Handbooks of 65 patients, being 31 of feminine sex and 34 had been analyzed, masculine. Forty-five patients had been submitted to the treatment with association of corticosteroids and vasodilators, only 11 vasodilators and 8 no type of treatment. Amongst that they had used association, 24,4% got complete improvement and 60% got partial improvement. Of that they had used only vasodilators, 54.5% had not gotten improvement. Of the 39 patients who had carried through domiciliary treatment, 43,5% had had partial improvement. Of the 19 patients who had carried through hospital treatment, 68,4% had had partial improvement. Of the 7 patients who had not carried through treatment, 85, 7% did not present any improvement. Of that they had initiated treatment after 10º day, 82% had not presented no improvement. CONCLUSIONS: The results gotten with the medicine association both are superior to the isolated use of vasodilator however are superior to the not-treatment. The treatments hospital and domiciliary present resulted similar. The treatment initiated before 10 days of symptoms better has resulted that the initiated treatment more delayed.
