PERCEPTIONS OF TEACHERS HOW THE VOCAL CHANGES OF THE STUDENTS

Abstract:

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the perception of teachers regarding their vocal students. METHODS: An objective questionnaire was answered by 50 teachers from the city of Nova Prata, Rio Grande do Sul, whose students submit ages 4 - 11 years. The questionnaire contained questions on the perception of teachers about the changes and the vocal habits of the students. RESULTS: Of the 50 teachers, 72% perceive the vocal students, 54% reported having students with vocal and 64% said that among the speech-language problems, reading disorders are the most catches their attention. The habits of students, 86% of teachers say that they usually speak loudly and 46% claim to have students imitate the voice of characters. As for the higher risk to vocal health, 80% of respondents point to speak out loud while 82% do not consider imitation of characters harmful. 84% of teachers consider it very important to drinking water for the vocal health of teachers and 68% tend to guide their students in relation to that care must be taken to a healthy voice. CONCLUSION: The results of this study may point out that participating teachers search perceive vocal in their students and guide them to take care of the voice, however, between the phonological changes that they consider important, do not mention the voice, and yes, reading disorders, thus needing to obtain more information about the factors risk for childhood dysphonia.
