Abstract:

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of cleft lip and cleft palate who sought service in the period 2000 - 2002 and the most frequent clinical features. Materials and Methods: The variables that took into account were gender, age at first examination, origin, location of the bad formation, type of cleft lip (simple or total), type of cleft palate (complete or incomplete). Work Research: Working retrospective cross-sectional analyzes consistently in sheets of 131 patients after surgery for cleft lip and / or cleft palate in the Service for the years 2000 to 2002, where he found that the most frequent abnormality was the association the aforementioned, the more affected side was left incomplete and was the most viewed. Females and patients came from rural areas were most affected. The age at first examination was before the first year of life. Conclusion: The cleft lip and / or Cleft Palate are rare diseases, the left side and incomplete were the most viewed, most of the time were associated with a predisposition of patients were female and from rural areas, the age at first consultation before the first year of life was of great importance to the institution of corrective treatment, which should be soon.
