AUDITORY PROGRAM OF REHABILITATION THROUGH DEVICES OF SONOROUS AMPLIFICATION IN TERTIARY HOSPITAL OF THE STATE OF PERNAMBUCO

Abstract:

OBJECTIVE: to trace a panorama of the program of auditory rehabilitation through the distribution of devices of individual sonorous amplification (AASI) during the years of 2010 and 2011 in the Hospital Agamenon Magalhães (HAM), pertaining to the public net of the state of credential Pernambuco and as unit of high complexity in the attention to the auditory health. MATERIAL AND METHOD: One is about a retrospective study, through the collection of information regarding sort, age group, type and degree of the loss, as well as unilateral or bilaterality of the adaptation from the data base of AASI, available for the service of phonoaudiology of the HAM. RESULTS: 2,940 prosthesis had been permitted, contemplating a total of 1.575 patients, from which 86% had received bilateral prosthesis and 13% had received only one prosthesis, in accordance with its audiologic indication. The feminine sort was found (55.7%). Amongst the types of loss, the moderate sensorineural was most prevalent, in all the age groups (78.7%), followed for the mixing auditory loss (19.1%). Stratifying the patients in age groups, the group with 50 years or more was the most populous with 1116 individuals (71% of the sample) population with equal age or inferior the 4 years it represented 0.8%. CONCLUSION: The program of rehabilitation with AASI contemplates patients of all the age groups, especially aged, allowing a bigger social inclusion. It is important to stand out, however, the small participation of the group with age ≤ 4 years, alerting for necessity of intervention in children with auditory, similar loss to improve its bio psychosocial development.
