Abstract:

OBJECTIVE: Auditory problems unchain difficulties in the understanding of speak, mainly in acoustically favorable environments, difficulties these that can partially be cured with the auditory prosthetization and the auditory training. Thus the objective of this work is to verify the effectiveness of the auditory training in a group of aged prostetized. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The moderate one of an auditory center in the city of Santiago/RS, the period of August to December of 2011, with ages between 60 and 85 years, of both was selected 14 aged carriers of sensorineural auditory deficiency of light degree the sorts, prostetized bilaterally. The group was submitted to a program of auditory training during eight sessions. The evaluation of the auditory processing occurred through the following tests: speaks in the Noise, PPS and SSW in Portuguese at two moments: Evaluation and after 4 weeks the reevaluation was become fulfilled. RESULTS: It had improvement in all the applied tests. In tests SSW and PPS the values found in the reevaluation are excellently superior. In the test speaks in the noise had statistical significant difference in the joined values. CONCLUSION: It can be concluded that one program of auditory training benefits aged the prostetized ones.
