Abstract:

The selective IgA immunodeficiency is the most frequent manifestation of the primary immunodeficiencies. Children with selective IgA immunodeficiency clinically present recurrent infections, mainly of the respiratory tract, caused by encapsulated bacteria (S. pneumoniae, H. influenzae, N. meningitidis). The authors present 4 children with selective IgA immunodeficiency presented with recurrent infections in Otorhinolaryngology, review the literature and alert the specialist for the possibility of this diagnosis.
