Abstract:

OBJECTIVE: To examine the size of the vocal tract of professionals women singers and non professionals women singers at home and in the corner. MATERIAL AND METHODS: the position of the larynx examined by longitudinal distance between the vocal folds and the hard palate of singers and singing at home. There were 18 singers and soloists nine professionals, classified as a soprano or mezzo-soprano, aged between 18 and 45 years old. To obtain the anatomical images, each singer underwent video fluoroscopy, being instructed to sing vocalizes in C major, D major and MI increased with extension of the eighth with a vowel / a /, / i / and / u /, supporting the above note . Were selected images, the respective distances being measured by the program ImageJ. We adopted the descriptive statistics. RESULTS: at home, the longitudinal distances of the vocal cords to the hard palate were: 70.61mm (not professional) and 66.94 mm (professional). During the vocalizes, longest distance was greater for DOH to / u / and lower for MI increased the production of / i / for both groups, non-professional (72.41mm and 66.45mm) and professionals (74.53mm and 70.36mm). MI increased with / i / was lower in non-professional sopranos (70.94mm) and mezzo-sopranos (57.47mm), and professional mezzo-sopranos (78.94mm). Sopranos professionals (71.55mm) and non-professional (75.71mm) showed higher RE with greater distance to / a /. CONCLUSION: professional singers had lower away the rest, increasing during the vocalizes for both groups, especially those professionals who demonstrate extrinsic adjustments of long-term feature associated with more serious tone and vowel employees, resulting in the lowest position of the larynx .
