INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT DEGREES AND CONFIGURATIONS OF Hearing loss IN THE EVALUATION OF THE AUDITORY PROCESSING IN AGED

Abstract:

OBJECTIVES: to verify the influence in the evaluation of the auditory processing of different degrees and configuration of hearing loss in aged. METHOD: 90 years, being 17 (56.67%) of feminine sort and 13 (43.33%) of the masculine sort had been evaluated 30 aged ones of 60. The carried through evaluations had included meatoscopy, preliminary tonal audiometry and application of test SSW in Portuguese. RESULTS: the analysis of the data allowed verifying that, in this group of individuals, the degree of hearing loss influenced significantly in the scores gotten in the evaluation of the auditory processing, differently of the configuration of hearing loss. Aged that they had presented the hearing loss of light degree with horizontal configuration had gotten significantly scores superior in the evaluation of the auditory processing compared with the carriers of hearing loss of moderate degree with horizontal configuration or moderate degree with descending configuration. CONCLUSION: one concluded that the degree of hearing loss influences in the results of the evaluation of the auditory processing. The configuration of hearing loss was not determinative factor in the results of the evaluation of the auditory processing.
