SPEECH THERAPY EXPERIENCE ON ENCOURAGING OF BREASTFEEDING IN GROUPS OF PREGNANT WOMEN

Abstract:

OBJECTIVES: Encourage breastfeeding informing pregnant women about the importance and benefits, early weaning prevent, intervene to remedy possible problems related to breastfeeding, advise on harmful oral habits, hearing health and orofacial development, language and speech. MATERIAL AND METHODS: From the July of 2011 to April of 2012 were developed in weekly group dynamics Group of Pregnant Women's Hospital in Santa Clara and Basic Health Unit with the active participation of women. These activities are part of a collaborative project developed by local, occurring while the women awaiting outpatient prenatal care. They are used folders, posters, templates breasts and videos produced by academicians of Speech UFCSPA with teacher supervision of project coordinator. Students develop the guidelines, through the knowledge that pregnant women have on the subject and on the main taboos, addressing issues such as: breast anatomy, physiology of lactation, the breast care, emotional aspects, the importance of breast milk for both mother and child. Results and CONCLUSION: We targeted about 320 pregnant women. It was noted the lack of knowledge and lack of information regarding the duration of breastfeeding and its techniques, use of pacifiers and bottles, preventing cracks and fissures, the ear test (OAE test), among others. The dialogic model among health professionals and pregnant women group enables the exchange of experiences, building a selfless. It consisted of a primary prevention is in order to prepare them to live in the moment of breastfeeding in a safe and quiet, assuming a position of health promotion.
