Abstract:

Objective: To describe the use of the focal group as strategy for adaptation of the University Of Rhode Island Change Assessment Scale (URICA) for evaluation of the periods of training of change, described for Transtheoric Model Of Change of Behavior (MTT), in deficient auditory. Material and Method: The strategy of focal group was carried through with 17 participants, divided in users (n=9) and candidates to the device of individual sonorous amplification - AASI (n=8). Each group participated of a meeting with duration of approximately two hours, being carried through the filming and transcription of the same. The 12 questions for period of training had been presented of 6 and the participants had also been able to suggest new questions, being then requested to identify which situations better they described the stages that had passed since the discovery of the auditory deficiency, the covered way and the carried through treatment. Results: The 6 questions more voted of each period of training had been chosen to be part of questionnaire, being 2 of these suggested by the participants. The candidates to the use of the AASI had shown to greater easiness for the quarrel of the referring questions to the initial periods of training (daily pay-contemplation, contemplation and preparation) where had told not to admit the problem and to follow to go to look to information and aid, whereas the group of using patients already of AASI had greater easiness in the quarrel of the posterior periods of training (Action and maintenance) relating that already they really feel themselves deciding the problem and making something the respect. Conclusions: The focal group showed a strategy adjusted for adaptation of the URICA. The validation of this instrument adapted for deficient the auditory ones is being studied.
