RELATION BETWEEN EXPOSITION TO THE NOISE AND THE AUDIOLOGIC FINDINGS OF THE BODY OF FIREMEN: REVISION OF LITERATURE

Abstract:

Objective: To verify in literature research that proved the effect of the noise environment on the hearing of the firemen. Material and Method: Gotten bibliographical research through the databases PubMed and Scielo was carried through. They had been used summaries, delimiting it the period between 2008 and 2012. The used describers had been firemen and auditory loss. Initially 20 summaries had been selected. As inclusion criterion was used summaries that described research with firemen who had been displayed to the occupational noise, being excessively excluded, remaining only 6 research. Results: 4 studies had evidenced that the noise that this population is displayed cause damages to the auditory system, and 2 of them had applied questionnaires and evidenced that these professionals are more susceptible to the auditory loss However them 6 studies only 2 had carried through the audiologic quantification and examinations in order to relate the audiologic findings with the intensity of the noise. Conclusion: In recent years few studies had been carried through with firemen, standing out the importance of the accomplishment of new studies quantifying adequately the exposition to the noise in different environments of work of these professionals, similar to identify possible unhealthy sonorous conditions, as well as assisting in the diagnosis of the auditory loss. Moreover, although few studies, all had indicated that such population is of risk for the auditory loss, therefore become necessary to establish writ of prevention for the occupational auditory losses.
