Abstract:

Introduction: Some therapeutical options had been suggested for the improvement of the chronic rhinosinusitis. Thinking about improving the quality of life of the patients with illnesses of the glass mood, the ophthalmologists had started to recently use biodegradable implantations with corticoid in the attempt to reduce the number of surgical procedures. These implantations can be an alternative in the treatment of the RSC. Objective: To evaluate histologically the mucous sinus to maxillary of rabbits after the rank of biodegradable implantation of prednisolone. Materials and Methods: Eighteen rabbits had been divided randomly in two equal groups: Group 1: in the left maxillary sinus was inserted a biodegradable implantation with prednisolone; Group 2: In the left maxillary sinus was inserted a biodegradable implantation without medication. The right maxillary sinus side had served as control. After 7, 14 and 28 days had been chosen randomly three rabbits of each group and the inflammatory tecidual reply was evaluated. Results: Not significant difference of inflammation in the mucosa was found, when we compare the group of rabbits that had received implantations with and without medication with the group has controlled; or when we compare the group that received implantation with prednisolone with the group that received implantation without medication. Conclusion: Exactly with one shows of reduced size had not been observed signals of toxicity or inflammation in the mucous of the maxillary sinus of the rabbit to the presence of the implantation with or without prednisolone. New research with bigger sampling must clarify the importance of this therapy for the RSC.
