Abstract:

OBJECTIVE: To identify the immediate effects of vibration exercise sonorous healthy vocal fold for ultra-fast Kymography. Method: 15 subjects, 6 men and 9 women (21 - 43 years) without laryngeal and voice adapted. The examinations were performed by a physician laryngologist before and after exercise. The laryngeal images were recorded at a rate of 4000 frames per second and Kymography obtained by tracing a line on the medial section of the larynx and to capture the images overlap. It was using the survey software to extract X-CAD of the following parameters: the closed phase (FF), open phase (FA), the closing phase (Ff) and the opening phase (Fa). Coefficients were calculated: open (OQ), closing (CQ) and velocity (SQ). The results were compared using the paired t test with significance level 0.05. RESULTS: After the sonorous vibration exercise significant changes were observed in FF (p = 0.046), FA (p = 0.05) and Ff (p = 0.026) on female vocal folds, also were statistical differences in Q (p = 0.049) and CQ (p = 0.029). The male vocal folds showed statistical differences only for SQ (p = 0.048). CONCLUSION: The results suggest that the exercise of sonorous vibrations cause the immediate effect of soft contact between the vocal folds. Keywords: high speed laryngoscopy, Kymography, sonorous vibration, voice.
