PERFORMANCE IN DICHOTIC TEST OF ALTERNATED DIGITS IN PROSTHETIZED AGED

Abstract:

OBJECTIVE: to verify the performance in the dichotic test of alternated digits in prostetized aged. METHOD: aged ones with more than 60 years had been evaluated 10, with binaural auditory prosthetization, in the period of March to October of 2011, in a private clinic in the city of Santiago, Rio Grande Do Sul, Brazil. The following procedures had been carried through: anamneses, audiologic evaluation, immittance testing and evaluation of the auditory processing by means of the application of the dichotic test of alternating digits. RESULTS: the following results had been found: a) 90% of the aged ones had presented alteration in at least one of the ears in the conditions left or right competitive; b) the alteration degree varied of light the severe one and the right ear better presented performance in relation to the left; c) the trends of joined answers had been: effect of order in 40%, auditory effect and type in 30% and the inversions in 10%. CONCLUSION: the performance in the dichotic test of alternated digits in aged, exactly with the binaural auditory prosthetization, can be modified.
