EPIDEMIOLOGIA DO TRAUMA MALAR NA CIDADE DE MANAUS

Abstract:

OBJECTIVES: The malar fractures occur as a result of direct trauma on the hemiface in traffic accidents in which the force is traumatizing lateral direction relative to the front-nasal angle. The objective of this study was to analyze the medical records of trauma patients in a malar service residence of otolaryngology and cervico facial surgery from 1982 to 2000. METHOD: This is a retrospective analysis of medical records of patients seen at emergency services and emergency in the period 1982 to 2000. RESULTS: The charts of 327 patients with the treatment of choice according to the severity of the injury: bloodless method using armed hook for percutaneous or spatula through oral or bloody time and method using various surgical approaches through the oral cavity (KEEN) or protostomies. The most affected patients were male 245 (75%) of the sample in this age group accounted main between the second and fourth (48%) decade of life. CONCLUSION: The young adult males are generally more affected by being exposed to greater risk factors for injuries and traffic accidents the main etiological factor for this type of fracture.
