Abstract: |
OBJECTIVE: To verify the occurrence of dysphagia and laryngeal elevation in the clinical evaluation of liquid and paste. METHODOLOGY: cross-sectional, quantitative and retrospective in the database, the degree of dysphagia and laryngeal elevation. RESULTS: Records of 17 patients, 12 (70.58%) males and five (29.41%) were female. Of total male four (33.33%) had functional swallowing and laryngeal elevation was suitable for liquid and pasty reduced in two (50%) lowered to the appropriate liquid and a paste (25%) and one (25%) increased decreased in both consistencies; dysphagia light was observed in four patients (33.33%) and laryngeal elevation was reduced to the appropriate liquid and the slurry into two (50%), suitable for the viscous liquid and reduced in one (25%) and reduced in both a consistency (25%); dysphagia mild to moderate was observed in four patients (33.33%) and the laryngeal elevation reduced in both consistencies in three (75%) and (25%) reduced increase in viscous fluid and the appropriate. In the female, four (80%) had swallowing function, and the laryngeal elevation reduced in the appropriate liquid and pasty three (75%) and proper in the liquid in slurry and on a reduced (25%) was observed in mild dysphagia one (20%) being the guy in net reduced laryngeal elevation and appropriate pasty. CONCLUSION: male predominance, swallowing function in both sexes and reduced laryngeal elevation in liquid consistency with the increase of the degree of dysphagia.
