Abstract:
Introduction: The endoscopic septoplasty was first described about ten years ago and its main objective was to improve the exhibition of the area of the middle meatus during the endoscopic sinus surgery and the postoperative care. Othes advantages were add later, with endoscopic use to treat nasal septum.
Aim: The aim of this paper was to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the endoscopic use to correct nasal septum deviation, and to check the principal surgical points of this surgery. Papers review about this subject in medical literature was done.
Conclusion: The endoscopes could be considered a profitable tool to correct specifically septal deviation, allowing a more conservatory surgery and low morbidity. Another advantage is the possibility of joining a video system, allowing a better teaching and documentation of this surgery.
