Abstract: |
OBJECTIVE: The neoplasias of plasma cells include myeloma multiple, plasmocytoma solitary of bone and plasmocytoma extra-cellular. It represents less than 1% of the malignant tumors of head and neck. The great majority is situated in the nose, nasopharynx and paranasal sinus, being uncommon in larynx. CASE REPORT: G.A.G., 34 years, was taken care of with complaint of gradual hoarseness has 4 months approximately, associated the xerostomy. It was submitted to the direct videolaryngoscopy, where injury in left ventricular band was visualized. The Computerized Tomography evidenced increase of soft parts in the topography of the larynx ventricle to the left, hyporeceiving for the way of endovenous contrast, measuring about 1,4X0,8 cm in the biggest axles, without erosion evidence them larynx cartilages. It was submitted to the microsurgery of larynx with complete removal of the injury, whose immunohistochemistry study it concluded compatible morphologic and immunophenotype aspects with injury of plasmatic cells, confirming the diagnosis of plasmocytoma. DISCUSSION: Plasmocytoma solitary is characterized by a local collection of malignant cells of the plasma, without evidences of sistemic affection. During revision of world-wide literature 82 cases of PEM had been identified, where epiglottis was the place most frequent, followed for false vocal ropes and ventricle. The symptoms are caused by the dysphonia, dysphagia local growth being, cough and dyspnea the main manifestations. Due to lack of distinct clinical characteristics, the diagnosis of PEM in larynx generally is histopathological. The plasmocytoma they are highly radio-sensivel tumors, the x-ray is considered the treatment of choice, with taxes of local control of 80% the 100%.
