Abstract: |
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the distribution of hearing aids in the state of Pernambuco between 2008 and 2011, according to the macro-health and age of the population. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a descriptive, retrospective study, based on data collected through the outpatient information system-SIA-SUS. Data were collected from the Tabwin program, selecting the procedure selection and verification of the benefit of hearing aids and related to variables such as origin, age and gender. RESULTS: The SUS offered by the state of Pernambuco, in the period 2008 to 2011, 8885 hearing aids. Of these 55% were delivered to patients in the metropolitan area, 27% of the wild population, 16% to residents of the valley of San Francisco and only around 1.6% of the population of the interior of the state. People aged 50 years or more, comprise the oldest age group included 6007 individuals with predominantly female (53.8%), with an increasing every decade. CONCLUSION: The program of attention to health of disabled people in Pernambuco state while comprehensive is a relatively uneven, probably due to difficulty of access to tertiary services in certain urban and rural areas. The elderly population appears to be the most benefited, as well as other population-based studies, in view of the higher prevalence of AD in this age group, consequent to the aging process per se.
