Abstract:

OBJECTIVE: To describe the difficulties for the assembly of the sleep laboratory at the University Gaffrée and Guinle Hospital (HUGG), Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO). MATERIALS AND METHODS: ABORL-CCF has encouraged the services accredited to implement activities related to the sleep study, but the obtaining of financial resources is an obstacle usual. In October of 2010, we were awarded the tender by FAPERJ, and purchase the equipment. We face many problems: lack of physical space; hospital the night, breakfast and swimming conditions, personnel - technician in the performance of the polysomnographic. RESULTS: Results 15 exams to date. Due to the lack of an expert, only four tests were analyzed. 2 have mild SAHOS, one moderate and one marked degree. The scientific production of the Department of Otolaryngology, HUGG for 2012 consists of: Preparation of Abstracts to be presented by the students of the Undergraduate Research Day; Preparation of Free Theme to be presented during the 11th CONGRESS OF THE OTOLARYNGOLOGIC FOUNDATION AND 29th SOCIETAS CONVENTUS; Preparation of the first paper to be presented in an indexed journal, the professional master's students in the second half of 2012. CONCLUSIONS: The difficulties encountered by the ENT Service of UNIRIO should not be different from other services in Brazil. The Capture of financial resources should be sought by the teacher researcher in the research funding agencies. The habit of searching for tally sheets should be encouraged.
