Abstract:

Objective: To verify if the posturography of the Tetrax Interactive Balance System is capable to evaluate the corporal balance of healthy individuals. Material and method: 24 individuals between 19 and 41 years without auditory complaints and vestibular contests (12 of masculine sort and 12 of the feminine one) had been submitted to the posturography of the Tetrax Interactive Balance System in eight different sensorial conditions (opened eyes, closed eyes, in firm surface, unstable surface, and different positions of head), 32 seconds in each condition. Results: The average of the age group was 27,2 years, being 25,2 in feminine population and 29,0 in the masculine. The height average was of 170 cm and 67,8 weight kg the average of the index of risk of fall of the group was 19.1 being of 20,5 in feminine population and 15,2 in the masculine. The average distribution of the weight between the feet right and left and the forebodes and posterior of the feet was symmetrical in all the conditions studied, as well as the index of weight distribution. The average stability showed to minor value (10.9%, with shunting line 2,7% standard) in the condition IN (open eyes fixing in a target in the opposing wall to the platform in firm surface) and the greater value (23.7%, with shunting line 5,8% standard) in condition PC (closed eyes in unstable surface, on a cushion). Conclusion: The posturography of the Tetrax Interactive Balance System is capable to evaluate the corporal balance of healthy individuals in different sensorial conditions and to calculate the index of fall risk.
