Abstract:

Over the last 40 years, several studies have evaluated the otorhinolaryngologic manifestations in patients with Down’s syndrome. Hearing loss and upper airway obstruction are frequent in this population, which accounts for 10% of all mentally retarded people. The purpose of this study is to review the discussion within the literature about the ear disorders in these patients and to report some characteristics of Down’s syndrome that are important for otolaryngologic management.
