ELABORATION OF THE PROTOCOL OF EVALUATION OF PATIENTS WITH SLEEP DISORDERS IN THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL GAFFRÉE E GUINLE |

Abstract: |
Objective: Complaints of snores, apnea, sleeplessness, hypopnea, spelling of sleep and not restoring sleep are frequent. The objective of this work is to consider a protocol for evaluation of the patients with complaints related to sleep. Materials and Methods: The patient with riot of sleep will have to pass for the following stages of evaluation: anamneses general and of sleep, complete otolaryngologic physical examination including videonasolaryngoscopy, measured anthropometric, laboratorial polysomnography and examinations. Results: Beyond anamneses general, the Questionnaire of Berlin will have to be filled, aiming at selection of patients with suspicion of Syndrome of the Apnea of Sleep. Anamneses of sleep evidences the symptoms presented for the patient, characteristics of the sleep night, scale of Stanford, Epworth and of depression, environmentalism medicine use, conditions, profession. Measures of weight, height, IMC, abdominal and cervical circumference will be carried through, as well as the oropharingoscopy (evaluating thickened tongue, prorogated uvula, and classification of Brodsky and modified Mallampati, dental occlusion) and the stagind of Friedman. In the videonasolaryngoscopy examination will be evaluated: maneuver of Muller, projection of uvula, language, palate, tonsils, adenoideane hypertrophy, and format of pharynx. Finally, laboratorial accomplishment of basal polysomnography and examinations (including hormonal evaluation). Conclusion: The patient with complaints of sleep must be evaluated of form to multidiscipline. In this work an evaluation model is considered to be applied by the otolaryngologist, aiming at one better understanding of the illness and facilitating the choice of the proposal therapeutical, one of the biggest current challenges in what it refers to the riots of sleep.
