LARYNGEAL CHANGES RELATED TO GASTROESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE IN PROFESSIONAL OF EDUCATION ATTENDED IN A HEALTH CARE CENTER OF PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION - CASPE - PE

Abstract:

INTRODUCTION: The relationship between gastroesophageal reflux disease (DRGE) and laryngeal disorders has been widely commented on in recent years. Recent studies suggest an association between laryngeal symptoms, pharyngeal symptoms and gastroesophageal reflux, as an atypical presentation of reflux disease. GENERAL PURPOSE: To investigate the relationship between gastroesophageal reflux and laryngeal changes in the education professionals who are in speech therapy CASPE. SPECIFIC: Identify the main complaints reported by patients with RGE; Check the most common laryngeal pathology in patients with GERD. METHOD: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted by the Center to support health professional education (CASPE) the secretary of education in the municipality of Jaboatão dos Guararapes - PE. We conducted an analysis of medical records of patients with organic dysphonia or functional. Of the 143 records, 41 analyzed were selected because they are the ones who had laryngeal manifestations related to gastroesophageal reflux disease and are in speech therapy services in this service. RESULTS: We identified in the study of medical records of 143 patients analyzed, 41 complained of gastroesophageal reflux corresponding to 28.67%, the most vocal complaints of hoarseness was present in 61.36%, and laryngeal pathology were found over the cracks vocals with 57.69% of patients. CONCLUSION: There was a correlation between gastroesophageal reflux and laryngeal manifestations in professional education. The study also showed that most laryngeal pathology present in patients with DRGE (Gastroesophageal Esophageal Reflux Disorder) was vocal slits.
