OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical aspects and changes perceptual and acoustic features in children diagnosed with vocal nodules. METHODS: We evaluated 100 children aged 4 to 11 years old diagnosed with laryngopharyngeal nodules treated in outpatient clinics voice disorders. For the perceptual assessment scale was used GRBASI and acoustic analyzes MDVP the program, and analyzed the following parameters: jitter, pitch Perturbation Quotient (PPQ), shimmer percentage, amplitude Perturbation Quotient (APQ), Noise Harmonic Noise( NHR), Soft Phonation Index (SPI). The results of vocal perception-auditive evaluations perception were compared to a control group of students the same age and without vocal symptoms. RESULTS: The main vocal symptoms were hoarseness (45.0%), overuse of speech (30.0%); scream a lot (25.0%), respiratory symptoms were reported by 15.0%. Children with nodules had higher scores on the values of G scale GRBASI (G0-21, 62 G1-G2-17) than the control group (G0-76, G1-24, G2-0). Breathy-hoarse vocal quality was observed in 42% of children with nodules, excessive resonance imaging of the larynx in 78% of cases, abrupt vocal onset in 53%, and skeletal muscle tension in 40.0%. The acoustic measures were more % jitter significant, PPQ and SPI. Fo values did not differ between groups. CONCLUSION: vocal nodules in children determine changes in vocal qualities liable to be identified by the assessments auditory perception vocal and acoustic feedback can be useful in the therapy and in assessing the evolution of the lesions.
